During the warm up portion of the class, it is better to go at your own pace rather than speed through without proper form. Use the full range of motion on each exercise and keep the form tight (this includes group shadow boxing drills). Even a jumping jack or kick up loses value when it's done half heartedly.

I've posted about these two before. This match features a lot of footwork by Ole. Check out the nature of his movement and think about it for a bit....How does it play into the delivery of his technique on the target? We've discussed this before in class. Kru Jen especially goes over a lot of the traditional footworks.

Stretching is often neglected by many athletes. This can lead to injuries, difficulty with technique and ultimately a lot of discomfort (most especially for a fighter who needs to train 5-6 days a week).
Take some time after training before you go home to stretch out, even if you don't think you need it. Your body will be thankful the next day.

" Especially as a beginner, or someone coming off of a long break from training, it is very easy to become overwhelmed and discouraged when you feel like you can't keep up with everyone else. It's important to remember that regardless of the shape you are in, your only goal should be to challenge yourself to grow. You do that by pushing to your limits, which results in a different pace for every single person in the gym. Find that pace and you'll claw your way through the whole class. You don't have to be in shape to train Muay Thai. You train Muay Thai, and as a result you get in shape. "
This is an edited clip of Boonlai (Red trunks) and Superlek (Blue trunks) from the early 90's (?).
Superlek is clearly the aggressor, marching forward and throwing in combinations. Boonlai plays the counter game, using movement and timing to catch Superlek. He suceeds for the most part because he is defending well without showing any signs of damage from Superlek's aggression. Though he throws less he is always finishing the exchanges when Superlek is vulnerable. Check out a couple nice elbows counters in there.

From Kru Jen:
"SQUAT CHALLENGE YMT: I hope this isn't cheating but last Thursday fellow female Kru Mina Reyes and I began a simple squat challenge which increases by 5-7 squats per day.
Some students have been requesting more competitive challenges in classes etc so here is the first one. Kru and I started at 50 but tomorrow we are up to 70 squats. So here it is: If you want to jump in with us we are on day 5. Post your feelings. I hope to have a diff challenge each month and maybe we can do them in class too?"

In case you missed it, here is Matt vs Kevin.
It's an interesting fight. I don't want to sway your opinion, so I will refrain from giving too many details, but this fight had many people divided on the result. Aa you watch, I encourage you to think of reasons why both fighters would have a claim to victory. I believe that matches like these are great for thinking and thinking about the differnt facets of the fight game!
